Solar Information Centre Opened by Daniel Kawcznski MP

Over 70 local dignitaries, clients and solar industry professionals gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Shropshire’s first dedicated Solar Energy Information Centre. Monkmoor based Salop Energy Commercial has invested a six figure sum in creating a solar powered showroom and state-of-the-art information centre, claimed by one industry expert to be "the best in the Midlands."

Shrewsbury & Atcham MP Daniel Kawcznski, accompanied by daughter Alexis, formally opened the facilities supported by the Mayor and Mayoress of Shrewsbury, Councillor Tony and Mrs Tricia Durnell. Guests were able to inspect the many solar energy hardware and mounting system exhibits and review the educational materials including sample content from the ‘Investors’ Guide to Solar PV’ seminar and the accompanying 64 page e-book.

The latter has been independently produced by a former client and Trustee of the Longmynd Adventure Camp, Kim March, who subsequently helped the directors formulate their business plans. He paid tribute saying, "The directors of the Salop Energy Commercial have been a pleasure to work with on three counts – they are highly skilled at what they do; they are truly passionate about their industry and are exceptionally open and honest in the way they address the challenges they encounter along the way."

Daniel Kawcznski MP congratulated the Directors recognising their courage in launching a business in the teeth of an economic downturn adding, “As a local MP now dealing with the prospect of a nearby large scale wind farm project, I would much prefer to so see local people and businesses utilising their properties to generate their own electricity. It seems to my mind that Solar PV is a far better community centred renewable energy solution, rather than larger, more controversial land based schemes. I would also add that Salop Energy Commercial has achieved all of this without any assistance from the banks who have consistently refused support. The Directors are to be applauded for achieving so much entirely off their own backs; it is testimony to their drive, conviction and enterprise."

The formalities concluded with Director Gareth Jehu presenting the company’s very first customers – Mr Nigel & Mrs Rachael Pocock from Myddlewood with a bouquet of flowers. In a little over a year Salop Energy Commercial has experienced exceptional growth, creating jobs and is on track to become a £2M turnover business by the year end. Industry insiders expect the company to grow significantly beyond this in the future, as it refuses point blank to sub-contract out installation work.

Electrical power for the evening was provided courtesy of the sun via a battery store fed by a Lorentz Solar PV Tracker system which follows tacks the sun through the sky. Another first in Shropshire and sure sign that Salop Energy Commercial practices what it preaches. All the company’s educational seminars will be entirely powered by Solar PV energy.

Final words rested with Co-Directors Gareth Jehu and Gordon Ryan, “We are truly taken aback by the numbers of happy clients here with us this evening, Gordon Ryan said to which Gareth Jehu added, “It is highly motivating to be honoured with this level of support, it will certainly spur us on to grow and cherish the business even more.
